Marc Cucurella pushes Enzo Fernández for a Real Madrid reunion
Left‑back Marc Cucurella, fresh from his £52 million transfer to Real Madrid, told the media while on FIFA World Cup duty that he would be delighted if Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernández also joined him at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer and share the dressing‑room.
Cucurella’s departure from Chelsea Football Club followed months of speculation about his future at Stamford Bridge. His exit coincided with the club preparing for a new era under incoming manager Xabi Alonso.
Enzo Fernández, the Argentine midfielder, has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid. Chelsea are understood to value him at around £120 million.
Speaking while on international duty at the FIFA World Cup, Cucurella said, “He’s a great player and a friend of mine,” Cucurella said (via The Standard ). “He congratulated me on the signing. I hope it happens. “I would be very happy. We were very happy at Chelsea, and to have the opportunity to both sign for Real Madrid in the same summer. I hope he’s lucky and becomes a Real Madrid player.”
The pair shared a dressing‑room at Chelsea and built a strong relationship during a tumultuous period in West London. Cucurella believes Fernández has the quality and mentality to succeed at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Reports claim Real Madrid are set to go all out to bring Fernández to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. New manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly signed off on the transfer, and the club has shown a willingness to meet Chelsea’s demands.
Fernández previously flirted with the idea of moving to Madrid after publicly admitting he would love to live in the Spanish capital. Madrid are expected to formalise their interest in the World Cup winner in the coming days.
