Marc Cucurella set for Real Madrid transfer
Marc Cucurella is set to join Real Madrid after Fabrizio Romano announced the transfer. Jose Mourinho could make Cucurella his first-choice left-back ahead of Alvaro Carreras and Fran Garcia.
Cucurella, a product of Barcelona's La Masia academy, made one senior appearance for Barcelona before leaving. He had initially prioritized a return to Barcelona, but the club's economic condition made the move unrealistic.
Real Madrid are expected to pay up to €55 million for Cucurella with €5 million in add‑ons. Barcelona could not match the offer while focusing on acquiring a new forward. The defender currently plays for Chelsea.
Alejandro Balde remains at Barcelona but has struggled with form and fitness. Balde has been linked with a €70 million move to Manchester City. If Balde departs, Barcelona will need a new left‑back, a role Cucurella could have filled.
