Newcastle Eye Victor Munoz as Gordon Replacement

Newcastle United have identified Victor Munoz, a Spanish forward with a €40m release clause at Osasuna, as a potential replacement for Anthony Gordon who moved to Barcelona. Manager Eddie Howe’s side also expect 20-year-old goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Reims to undergo a medical soon. Jaouen’s transfer is reported to cost less than £20m, with French sources previously citing €25m plus add‑ons. Interest from Real Madrid highlights the goalkeeper’s perceived elite potential. Aaron Ramsdale has returned to Southampton after his loan spell, while John Ruddy was released by Newcastle United. Mark Gillespie signed fresh terms and Fabian Schar agreed a one‑year extension on reduced terms. The future of 34‑year‑old Nick Pope remains a key question as the club balances continuity and financial control. Munoz is described as versatile and capable of operating across the frontline, matching Newcastle’s need for youthful flexibility after Gordon’s departure. Additional scouting targets include Anan Khalaili, Said El Mala and Bazoumana Toure, all fitting a recruitment model focused on youth and upside. The club’s strategy emphasizes broader skill sets and imagination in possession. Sandro Tonali remains under contract until 2030, with Newcastle likely to demand a major fee should interest materialise. If Tonali departs, Lamine Camara and Kevin Danois are among the players monitored as possible replacements. Joe Willock is expected to leave Newcastle United, and Tino Livramento has attracted admirers from other clubs. Harvey Barnes is linked with Aston Villa, while goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos is available after his loan at Sevilla ends. The window features multiple potential exits alongside incoming targets. Wilson notes that Jaouen’s signing demonstrates proactive planning, but the club still needs additional signings to meet immediate expectations. Newcastle United must balance development of young talent with delivering energy and quality to the first‑team squad.
