Newcastle Target Victor Munoz as Gordon Replacement

Newcastle United are in advanced talks with Osasuna for Victor Munoz. Munoz is the Magpies' top target to replace Anthony Gordon, who moved to Barcelona. The 22‑year‑old recorded six goals and two assists for Osasuna last season. His form earned a call‑up to the Spain national team during the March international break. Munoz scored on his debut in a 3‑0 win over Serbia and featured in a 0‑0 draw with Egypt. Andy Brassell believes the World Cup schedule and possible injuries to Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal could give Munoz minutes in the group stage. Brassell described Munoz as small, explosive from the left wing, capable of scoring and assisting, with a high ceiling. Munoz made a couple of substitute appearances for Real Madrid in the Club World Cup last summer. Real Madrid retain an option to re‑sign Munoz this summer for a low fee. Anthony Gordon completed a £70 million transfer to Barcelona on a five‑year contract. Gordon left after three and a half seasons, making 152 appearances, scoring 39 goals and providing 28 assists. Eddie Howe oversaw the campaign that saw Newcastle finish 12th, five points behind Sunderland. Sunderland qualified for the Europa League, and the deal was a blow to Bayern Munich, who had previously agreed terms with Gordon.
