Real Madrid sign Bernardo Silva on two-year deal

Real Madrid have reached an agreement to sign Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva as a free agent, reports journalist Fabrizio Romano. Silva will sign a two-year contract with an option to extend for a further year after positive talks with Los Blancos. The move follows a request from new manager Jose Mourinho. The signing makes Silva the third addition for Real Madrid this summer, joining Ibrahima Konate, also arriving as a free agent. He also joins Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid were linked with the Portugal international before Madrid secured the deal. Silva arrives with experience that Real Madrid’s midfield has lacked since the departures of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. His ability to dictate tempo and drift into space could signal Mourinho’s intent to adopt a possession‑oriented style in his second stint. Silva, a 31‑year‑old, offers versatility as an attacking midfielder and right winger but is expected to play central midfield, potentially partnering Aurelien Tchouameni in a two‑man midfield. After a trophy‑laden career at Manchester City, Silva’s winning mentality could be crucial for a Madrid dressing room that has not won a trophy in the last two seasons. Madrid may still pursue further signings as they aim to close the gap on Barcelona and become more formidable in Europe.
