Real Madrid sign Ibrahima Konate as Mbappe praises defender
Real Madrid have completed two summer signings after Florentino Perez's re‑election. Denzel Dumfries is set to join as the successor to Dani Carvajal, and Ibrahima Konate will move in when his Liverpool contract ends.
Dumfries' arrival addresses the vacancy left by Carvajal, who is departing the club.
Konate had been on Real Madrid's radar since last summer; after briefly exiting the race in November, the club re‑engaged and finalized the deal. Kylian Mbappe praised the defender, describing him as aggressive, tactically flexible and capable of winning duels.
Konate is expected to provide a physical option in the backline and could serve as an alternative to Antonio Rudiger. He may partner with Rudiger, Dean Huijsen and the currently‑injured Eder Militao if he remains fit. The accompanying image is credited to Justin Setterfield.
