Real Madrid to sign Ibrahima Konate after World Cup
Real Madrid will sign centre-back Ibrahima Konate after the World Cup. The club also confirmed Jose Mourinho as the new head coach. Real Madrid are also slated to bring in Denzel Dumfries and Bernardo Silva.
Konate leaves Liverpool on a free transfer after five seasons and has already signed a contract running to 2030. The deal was agreed with Florentino Perez and has the backing of Mourinho. Andi Onrubia reported the formalities will be finalised once France’s World Cup campaign ends.
Konate will join a French core that includes Kylian Mbappe, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Ferland Mendy. He will add depth to a defence that already features Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao, Raul Asencio and Dean Huijsen.
Mbappe praised Konate as an aggressive, tactically flexible defender. The official announcement is expected once France’s World Cup campaign ends.
