Red Bull Salzburg open talks for Rangers manager Danny Röhl

Red Bull Salzburg have opened preliminary talks with Rangers about Danny Röhl's availability. The Austrian club are targeting the 37‑year‑old German manager. Röhl is under a long‑term contract with Rangers until 2028. Before taking the Rangers job in October 2025, Röhl served in coaching roles at RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich. Those positions gave him familiarity with the Red Bull system. His reputation for tactical organisation and work with younger players attracted attention. Salzburg have a vacant managerial slot and view Röhl as their preferred candidate. Securing him would require a substantial compensation package because Rangers hold the cards. Röhl was photographed by Ian MacNicol during a William Hill Premiership match against Hibernian on 13 May 2026 at Ibrox Stadium. The timing coincides with the German national team preparing for a World Cup opener against Curaçao in North Carolina. Salzburg’s financial strength and scouting network make the approach challenging for Rangers. The Ibrox board must decide whether to demand a high fee or retain Röhl for the upcoming season.
