Rodri says Spain win outranks Manchester City trophies
Rodri says winning with Spain is more special than lifting trophies with Manchester City, while his contract at the Etihad Stadium remains unresolved. The midfielder hinted that talks with the club are ongoing.
Rodri has collected 19 major trophies, including four Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League and Euro 2024 with Spain under Luis de la Fuente. Those achievements sit alongside his club successes.
He called Euro 2024 the most beautiful moment of his career, noting that Spain were not favourites and that the confidence built during the tournament was crucial. Rodri emphasized that achieving dreams with his country feels unique.
Rodri recalled scoring a decisive goal in the 2023-24 season to secure a record fourth consecutive Premier League title. He also highlighted the 2023 Champions League triumph in Istanbul, stressing the collective effort over personal glory. He addressed a claim by presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme linking him to Real Madrid.
Fabrizio Romano reported that Rodri is seeking a better financial offer from Manchester City, with both parties close to an agreement. Negotiations aim for an extension beyond the 2027 expiry of his current deal. Rodri said he will not discuss his future until after the World Cup.
