Ruben Amoram's lessons for AC Milan from United stint

Ruben Amoram is poised to take over as manager of AC Milan after his dismissal by Manchester United. The Rossoneri are expected to announce the Portuguese coach as their new boss in the coming days. Manchester United has proved a difficult club to manage, with constant non‑football talk and unrealistic demands. Amoram found himself in a tough situation from the start of his tenure at Old Trafford. He was repeatedly criticised for insisting on his 3‑4‑2‑1 formation despite club constraints. The lack of tactical flexibility was highlighted as a key shortcoming during his spell. United’s absence of a clear sporting project over the past decade limited Amoram’s ability to implement his ideas. The Jim Ratcliffe ownership introduced a major tactical shift after sacking Ten Hag, further restricting Amoram’s plans. Amoram excluded Kobbie Mainoo because the midfielder did not fit his system, jeopardising the player’s career prospects. The decision threatened United’s 88‑year record of fielding a youth graduate in the first team. AC Milan, which has lacked a coherent sporting identity for two seasons, may need a manager who adapts to club needs rather than imposing a rigid style. The squad, accustomed to a back three under Max Allegri, could face a different on‑ball dynamic under Amoram. The piece was authored by Kaustubh Pandey.
