Steele: Liverpool trail Real Madrid, Arsenal for Bouaddi

🇬🇧 yesterday

Journalist Lewis Steele said Liverpool are not leading the race for Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, with Real Madrid and Arsenal appearing further ahead, while the club’s focus remains on RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande. He made the comments during a recent YouTube discussion about the club’s summer transfer plans.

Steele noted that Liverpool are among the clubs interested in Bouaddi, but they are not at the forefront of the conversation. “I do think that Liverpool, they’re in the conversation, but they’re not at the forefront of the conversation in the same way they are with perhaps Yan Diomande,” he said.

He added that Real Madrid or maybe Arsenal seem to have done a little more on the Bouaddi pursuit. “I do think that Real Madrid or maybe an Arsenal even seem to have done a little bit more on that,” Steele observed, highlighting the competition across Europe.

Steele also said Liverpool still intend to sign a midfielder this summer, noting the lack of public noise in that area. “One thing that would worry, maybe not worry me, but there’s not much noise in terms of the midfield area,” he explained, and affirmed, “I do maintain that Liverpool want to sign a midfielder this summer.”

He indicated that recruitment in midfield appears active behind the scenes, even though no specific target has emerged as a clear priority. The quietness suggests the club is monitoring options without a public push.

Steele’s update offered a measured assessment rather than a dramatic revelation, indicating Liverpool admire Bouaddi but are not actively chasing him. Other clubs may currently be further down the road in their pursuit, leaving the situation open for change.
