Steven Naismith says Scotland will stay disciplined vs Brazil

Scotland manager Steven Naismith warned on Wednesday that his side will not adopt a gung‑ho approach against Brazil in the final Group C match of the World Cup, stressing the need for shape and solidity after a 71‑second concession to Morocco on matchday two.

Scotland fell behind after just 71 seconds when Morocco scored on matchday two. The team later raised its intensity, yet only managed a spell of pressure in the closing stages to truly challenge the African champions.

Scotland's assistant coach admitted the side must improve its goal‑scoring output. He stressed that maintaining shape and solidity remains the foundation for any progress.

Steven Naismith recalled Brazil's 3‑0 lead over Haiti at half‑time, saying, "Brazil were 3-0 up before half-time against Haiti, so we won't be going gung-ho from minute one." He made the comment at the squad's base camp in Charlotte.

Naismith added, "The conditions, the opposition, it's impossible to do. There will be moments we need to sit in our shape and wait." The former forward highlighted the need for tactical patience.

He asserted that the squad "have the players who can cause Brazil problems" and believes they deserve to be the first team to leave the group. Naismith expressed confidence that the players and manager can achieve that goal.

Looking ahead to the final game, Naismith said, "Going into the last game, we'll do what we need to do to get the result, which we came here to get." He concluded that Scotland will focus on securing the necessary point to advance.
