STVV opts for continuity with new coach Frédéric De Meyer

Sint-Truiden unveiled Frédéric De Meyer as their new head coach on Friday at Stayen, appointing him as the successor to Wouter Vrancken, who has taken the managerial role at Scotland’s Heart of Midlothian. Technical director André Pinto said the club chose De Meyer to preserve continuity for the Kanaries.

De Meyer will assume responsibility for the first‑team squad, taking over the T1 role from Vrancken. His appointment follows Vrancken’s departure to the Scottish Premiership side Heart of Midlothian.

Technical director André Pinto highlighted the need for stability after the coaching change. Pinto explained that De Meyer’s familiarity with the club’s culture makes him the ideal choice for continuity.

The club, officially known as STVV, is often referred to by its nickname the Kanaries. Maintaining the playing philosophy of the previous regime is a central aim of the new coach.

The unveiling took place at the club’s home stadium, Stayen, on Friday. Supporters were present for the presentation, underscoring the club’s commitment to a smooth transition.

With De Meyer in charge, STVV looks to build on the existing squad’s quality, as noted by the technical staff. The management expects the continuity plan to translate into consistent performances in the upcoming season.
