Sunderland Target Red Bull Salzburg Winger Kerim Alajbegovic
Sunderland are in talks to sign Bosnia international Kerim Alajbegovic from Red Bull Salzburg, according to journalist Fraser Fletcher. The 18‑year‑old winger is linked with a move in the upcoming summer transfer window. Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris is reportedly monitoring the situation.
Alajbegovic featured in 44 matches for Red Bull Salzburg last season, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists across all competitions. He primarily operates on the left flank but can also play as an attacking midfielder or on the right wing. His performances have marked him as one of the most gifted young wingers in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Alajbegovic is contracted with Red Bull Salzburg until the summer of 2029, which may limit Sunderland's ability to secure a low‑cost deal. A photograph by Warren Little captured the Bosnian international during a FIFA World Cup 2026 European Qualifiers KO play‑off match at Cardiff City Stadium. The image shows Alajbegovic controlling the ball for Bosnia and Herzegovina against Wales.
The winger is praised for his dribbling, vision to create chances, and powerful long‑range shooting. Le Bris believes Alajbegovic could improve the quality of Sunderland's attacking department and compete for a regular starting spot at the Stadium of Light. However, his ability to cope with the physicality and intensity of the Premier League remains to be tested.
