Tottenham Hotspur pursue Sandro Tonali as Newcastle set £100m price

Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race for Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali, with Newcastle United demanding a £100 million fee. The club’s aggressive activity on the transfer market meets intensified competition from Arsenal and Manchester City, according to recent reports this summer.

Sandro Tonali arrived at Newcastle United from AC Milan for €60 million in the summer of 2023. Since then he has become a key figure in the club’s midfield.

Early in his Newcastle spell he was suspended by the disciplinary committee for gambling. He has since recovered form and attracted interest from the top of English football.

Transfermarkt estimates his market value at €80 million, while Newcastle have set an asking price of £100 million, roughly €115 million. The club insists on receiving at least this amount in any negotiation.

Roberto De Zerbi has expressed a strong desire to add the Italian midfielder to his squad for the coming season. Manchester United also showed interest but reportedly withdrew their pursuit.

Tonali’s representatives indicate a preference for a move to Arsenal or Manchester City, with Arsenal viewed as the leading candidate. Newcastle are prepared to discuss a deal with Tottenham Hotspur despite lacking European competition, provided the minimum fee is met.
