United, Liverpool eye Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha £52m

Germany international Felix Nmecha is reportedly willing to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, with both Manchester United and Liverpool monitoring his situation. A deal could materialise around £52 million, despite his recent four‑year contract signed in March and a release clause that does not activate until 2027.

He signed a new four‑year contract with Dortmund in March, but the release clause does not activate until 2027. Dortmund therefore remain calm, with no immediate pressure to sell.

Nmecha arrived at Borussia Dortmund from Wolfsburg in 2023, quickly establishing himself as one of the Bundesliga’s more influential midfielders. His game combines physical presence, technical security and tactical intelligence.

His profile rose further after a commanding midfield display in Germany’s 7‑1 World Cup win over Curacao, playing under manager Julian Nagelsmann. The performance highlighted his ability to dominate under pressure.

Both Felix and his brother Lukas Nmecha progressed through Manchester City’s academy before moving to Germany. Lukas returned to England with Leeds United last season, fueling speculation that Felix could follow a similar path.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have all been approached about his situation, with none dismissing the possibility outright. The market is being tested rather than a move being imminent.

Intermediaries suggest a potential transfer fee of around £52 million, placing the player in a high‑value bracket for summer deals. Dortmund view him as a valuable asset and are unlikely to accept offers below that valuation.

For Manchester United, Nmecha offers the size, balance and composure they have lacked in recent midfield assemblies. Liverpool’s interest adds competition, meaning United must decide quickly on his role and price.
