Westerlo's transfer window opens with three key players set to depart
Westerlo’s summer transfer window begins with three first‑team members absent from training as they prepare moves abroad: striker Nacho Ferri is bound for Feyenoord Rotterdam, midfielder Arthur Piedfort is set for a medical at Auxerre, and left‑winger Josimar Alcocer heads to Sparta Prague.
Ferri contributed eleven goals and four assists last season. Feyenoord’s new sporting director is Dévy Rigaux, who is overseeing the signing.
Arthur Piedfort will undergo his medical examinations early next week. He aims to join Auxerre, a Ligue 1 club.
Josimar Alcocer, a Costa‑Rican left winger, recorded three goals and four assists in the previous campaign. He will depart for Sparta Prague; he missed the recent training session.
Goalkeeper Andreas Jungdal was also absent. His week off follows international duties with Denmark and he is expected back at training next week.
The early transfer activity leaves Westerlo with a depleted squad as the window opens. It highlights a departure‑heavy start for the Belgian side. The opening of the market is especially departure‑laden for Westerlo.
