2028 contract fuels Barcelona's flexibility as Farinas eyes Girona

🇪🇸

Brian Farinas’ contract runs until 2028, yet the 20‑year‑old FC Barcelona midfielder is poised to leave the Catalan giants this summer, with Girona emerging as his most likely destination, according to a report. The move would see him step up to Spain’s Segunda Division and could involve a loan or permanent deal.

Barcelona Atletic failed to secure promotion and will remain in Spain's Segunda RFEF for another season. The club expects significant squad changes, with 20‑year‑old Brian Farinas among the likely departures.

Girona, currently leading the race for promotion, have emerged as the most probable destination for Farinas. A move to Montilivi would allow him to compete in the Segunda Division, a step up from the reserve league.

The exact structure of the deal remains undecided. Girona are weighing a season‑long loan against a permanent transfer.

Farinas is under contract with FC Barcelona until 2028, giving the Catalan club flexibility in negotiations. This long‑term deal allows Barcelona to secure a fee or retain the player’s rights if needed.

The midfielder joined La Masia from Villarreal in 2018. Under Juliano Belletti he logged 33 appearances last season, contributing five goals and seven assists, an impressive return for a central midfielder.

His performances earned him training sessions with Hansi Flick’s first‑team squad, where the Barcelona coach could assess his potential directly.

Barcelona Atletic have already seen several reserve players depart this summer, including Ander Astralaga, Emilio Bernad, Victor Barbera, Oscar Urena and Joaquin Delgado. Diego Kochen is set to finalize a loan move to Danish club Lyngby.

Further exits appear likely, with Toni Fernandez and Guille Fernandez attracting strong interest, while Jofre Torrents could also be on the move.
