AC Milan finalise management structure with new roles confirmed

AC Milan have finalised their management structure under club leader Gerry Cardinale, confirming multiple key appointments across the sporting hierarchy. The club has moved swiftly to fill roles vacated by departures, with new directors appointed in player trading and football intelligence. Milan’s hierarchy now includes Hendrik Almstadt as Director of Player Trading, Bobby Gardiner as Director of Football Intelligence, and Donato Lomonte as Head of Scouting.

Hendrik Almstadt returns to Milan in a senior football operations role, having previously served as an executive assistant at the club from 2019. His appointment as Director of Player Trading places him at the centre of the club’s transfer strategy. Almstadt brings prior experience as sporting director at Aston Villa during the 2015/16 season, a campaign that ended in relegation from the Premier League.

Bobby Gardiner has been promoted to Director of Football Intelligence after serving as Head of Performance Analytics. Gardiner was previously credited by The Athletic alongside Ben Torvaney and Tiago Estêvão for shaping Milan’s rebuild that culminated in the Serie A triumph in 2021/22. His new role reflects the club’s focus on data-driven decision-making.

Donato Lomonte transitions from scout to Head of Scouting, a position he now holds after seven years in the role. He previously worked at Ternana Calcio as a technical coach from 2016 to 2017 and managed Polisportiva Gaeta 1931 from 2013 to 2015. His elevation underscores Milan’s investment in scouting infrastructure.

Gerry Cardinale will take a more hands-on approach in club matters, confirmed alongside Massimo Calvelli as the new Chief Executive Officer. Calvelli has held the CEO role since taking over from Giorgio Furlani. David Castelblanco, Cardinale’s right-hand man and board member, will remain involved, as will Zlatan Ibrahimović in his advisory capacity.

Paolo Scaroni remains Milan president, a position he has held since July 2018. Jovan Kirovski continues to lead Milan Futuro and youth team development, with Vincenzo Vergine serving as academy manager. The club’s leadership team is now fully staffed under Cardinale’s direction.
