AC Milan’s lighter load: three competitions shape 2026/27 campaign
AC Milan will begin the 2026/27 season competing in three tournaments – Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Europa League – with the campaign opening on Sunday 23 August at 20:45 CEST in a Serie A away fixture against Torino, while the Supercoppa Italiana and early Coppa Italia rounds are omitted.
The club’s schedule therefore drops the Supercoppa Italiana and the preliminary Coppa Italia rounds, yet it retains a European campaign, guaranteeing at least eight additional Europa League fixtures.
In the summer of 2024 the Rossoneri prepared for four competitions – Serie A, the Supercoppa Italiana, the Champions League and the Coppa Italia – matching the number they featured in the previous campaign, when they played in Serie A, the Coppa Italia, the Champions League and the Europa League.
By contrast, last summer only three competitions were on the calendar, all on the domestic front: Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana.

At the close of the 2025/26 season AC Milan had logged 42 matches, a total that is certain to increase with the new campaign.
The Rossoneri will not have to contest the Supercoppa Italiana or the two preliminary rounds of the Coppa Italia, but they are guaranteed at least eight additional Europa League fixtures.
AC Milan will enter the Coppa Italia at the Round of 16 stage, with those ties set to be played between 2 and 16 December 2026.
As one of the seeded clubs in the official bracket, they bypass the summer qualifying rounds and are placed on the left‑hand side of the draw alongside Inter, Bologna and Como.
In the Europa League the Rossoneri enter directly into the league phase, with the draw scheduled for 28 August. Matchday 1 will then take place on either Wednesday 16 or Thursday 17 September 2026, the exact date to be confirmed after the draw.
