AC Milan to face Manchester United in Poland friendly

AC Milan will face Manchester United in an international friendly on Saturday, August 15. The match will be played at the Tarczyński Arena in Wrocław, just ahead of the new Serie A season. Over the past 25 years the two clubs have met in both competitive and friendly fixtures. Manchester United, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, were eliminated by AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 in 2004/05 and in the semi‑finals in 2006/07, the latter featuring Milan’s famed “Perfect Match” second‑leg performance at San Siro. United later overturned the earlier result by winning the 2009 UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie and eliminated Milan from the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 in the 2020/21 season. In friendlies, the teams have settled draws via penalties: at New York Giants Stadium in July 2004 the game ended 1‑1 before AC Milan won 10‑9 on penalties, with goalkeeper Dida saving a spot‑kick taken by opposing goalkeeper Tim Howard. The International Champions Cup saw another 1‑1 draw in July 2018, after which Manchester United prevailed 10‑9 on penalties when Franck Kessié missed the decisive spot‑kick. The following summer in Cardiff the Red Devils secured a 7‑6 penalty win after a 2‑2 draw. The next chapter of the rivalry will be written in Poland, and the new AC Milan 2026/27 home kit is now available for purchase.
