After rumors, Schalke-Juwel confirms Croatian contact

According to rumors, the 19‑year‑old Schalke gem Luca Vozar confirms that he is in talks with the Croatian association, but does not want to make a decision about his nationality yet. The midfielder, who has so far only played 16 minutes in the Bundesliga, speaks about the current situation.

Contract until 2029 and Youth Career

Vozar has been playing for Schalke since the U9 level and was previously captain of the U19 under Norbert Elgert. In the summer of 2024 he was taken into the professional squad and extended his contract until 2029.

His biggest moment so far was his Bundesliga debut against FC Bayern, which ended 0‑0. He was substituted on in the 74th minute by coach Miron Muslic, while teammate Maximilian Wöber was still taking a throw‑in.

"I saw Olise, saw Diaz, the 62,000 spectators. I can hardly describe this feeling, it is unique," Vozar said.

Vozar emphasizes that his focus is initially on getting more Bundesliga minutes. He wants to establish himself in senior football and collect more playing time.

Although he stood as a fan in the north stand, he now wants to play permanently on the other side of the barrier for the Royal Blues. He does not plan a quick decision for Croatia or Germany.
