Anderlecht appoints Vitor Bruno as head coach
Sporting Anderlecht introduced Portuguese coach Vitor Bruno as its new head coach at Lotto Park on Tuesday, with sports director Antoine Sibierski and CEO Kenneth Bornauw standing beside him. The appointment follows a four‑week evaluation of the club’s technical staff and a strict selection process.
Weeks earlier, Antoine Sibierski had taken the podium in the same press hall for his own official introduction. He returned this week, this time alongside Vitor Bruno, to present the new coach to the Belgian media. Both Sibierski and CEO Kenneth Bornauw expressed pride in securing the appointment.
Sibierski explained that the club defined three essential criteria for the role: personality, coaching style and management qualities. "We had three essential criteria: the personality, the coaching style and the management qualities of a trainer," said Sibierski during the briefing. He added that the selection process was built around these pillars to ensure a cultural fit.
Vitor Bruno, a Portuguese coach and former assistant of Sérgio Conceição, satisfied all three criteria. "Thanks to my network I could gather the necessary information about Vitor Bruno. It is clear that he perfectly fits the DNA of our club. We took time to meet each other and had several long conversations. I was convinced by his human qualities. He fits perfectly with what I want to achieve with this club," explained Sibierski. Sibierski emphasized that Bruno’s human qualities and alignment with the club’s DNA were decisive.
Kenneth Bornauw confirmed that Vitor Bruno was the clear number‑one candidate after a comprehensive review of the technical staff at the end of the season, barely four weeks ago. "Vitor was clearly our number one candidate. At the end of the season – barely four weeks ago – we made a thorough evaluation of the technical staff. Then we started a strict process with Antoine Sibierski, aware that we had little time," said Bornauw. "That gave us less playing space than other clubs, but with the arrival of Vitor Bruno and Antoine Sibierski, and the return of Jean Kindermans, we are now fully ready to start that preparation and build the future of the club," he added.
