Arne Engels draws interest from England, Italy and Germany
Celtic’s 22‑year‑old Belgian midfielder Arne Engels is attracting attention from clubs in England, Italy and Germany this summer after a strong season, with his market value estimated at around €20 million and Celtic reportedly seeking a higher fee should he move.
Engels transferred from Augsburg to Celtic in 2024 and quickly established himself as a regular in the Scottish side. His performances in Scotland have been highlighted as a key factor in the growing interest.
The midfielder’s estimated market value stands at roughly €20 million, while Celtic would aim for a considerably higher transfer fee. This valuation reflects his rapid development since arriving at Celtic.
In England, both Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest have been monitoring Engels’s progress and have formally expressed interest. Their scouting reports date back several months, indicating sustained attention.
Italian club AS Roma is currently in talks with Celtic regarding Engels, with manager Gian Piero Gasperini potentially influencing the negotiations. Gasperini had previously shown interest in the player for Atalanta.
German sides Borussia Dortmund, Lazio and RB Leipzig are also cited as interested parties. Leipzig’s possible move, however, may depend on the club’s outgoing transfers.
Engels spent part of his formative years at Club Brugge but never fully broke into the first team. He then moved to Augsburg before joining Celtic, marking a notable upward trajectory.
The player and his representatives are taking time to evaluate all options, with no rushed decision expected. A transfer decision is anticipated before the start of pre‑season preparations.
