Aurelien Tchouameni says he’s reached new level

Aurelien Tchouameni said he has reached a new level despite a difficult 2025-26 season with Real Madrid. He confirmed that his dispute with teammate Federico Valverde has been resolved. He is currently training with the French national team ahead of the World Cup opening match against Senegal on Tuesday. Tchouameni described the previous campaign as disappointing but noted a step up in his performances. He said another trophyless season with Real Madrid would be a shame, though a title remains possible. He added that the club still has a small chance to win a title that would be the most beautiful of all. He explained that his level rose from the second half of last season and continued this year through big‑match performances. He highlighted that playing consistently in midfield helped, after criticism when he was used as a centre‑back. He dismissed external opinions, saying praise one day and criticism the next means nothing. During Xabi Alonso’s brief spell as coach, Tchouameni remained a key midfielder for Real Madrid. He kept that importance after Alvaro Arbeloa arrived, despite a decline in the team’s form in the second half of the season. He looks to maintain his level under the incoming coach Jose Mourinho after the World Cup.
