Barcelona expect Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde to stay

Barcelona are focusing on bolstering their attack this summer, while confirming that defensive stalwarts Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde have no intention of leaving. Both players, under manager Hansi Flick, are expected to remain despite the club’s openness to evaluating significant offers.

The club believes major defensive changes will not be necessary before the new season begins. It remains open to assessing offers for certain players, but the reality is that key defenders are committed to staying.

According to SPORT, Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde are set to stay at Barcelona. Kounde’s contract runs until 2030, while Balde’s runs until 2028.

Balde, the left‑back, finished last season behind Joao Cancelo in the pecking order after the Portuguese defender became a regular option under Hansi Flick. Competition may intensify as Barcelona pursue youngster Jorge Salinas as a long‑term investment for the left side, yet Balde remains calm about his prospects.

Barcelona are also working to secure Joao Cancelo on a permanent deal from Al Hilal. The move would solidify the right‑back position that currently limits Balde’s opportunities.

Kounde, despite injury setbacks that disrupted his rhythm last season, has shown renewed form representing France at the World Cup under Didier Deschamps, and he has expressed no desire to entertain offers. The accompanying images were captured by David Ramos and Darrian Traynor.
