Barcelona eye Julian Alvarez as Saudi offer for Raphinha emerges
Saudi Arabian clubs Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr are preparing a substantial offer for Barcelona forward Raphinha. The potential deal could bring Barcelona around €80 million and enable a major signing. This interest arrives as Barcelona target Julian Alvarez for the vacant number nine role.
Barcelona have been without a number nine since Polish striker Robert Lewandowski left after four seasons, having arrived from Bayern Munich. The club have identified Julian Alvarez as the preferred target to lead the attack. Negotiations have been difficult, and Atletico have already rejected Barcelona’s first bid for Alvarez.
Raphinha recently reaffirmed his commitment to Barcelona and shows no sign of seeking a move. He is described as one of Hansi Flick’s most important players, contributing leadership, work rate and pressing intensity. The salary being discussed for Raphinha would exceed his current earnings.

An €80 million inflow would markedly improve Barcelona’s financial flexibility for the Alvarez operation. The arrival of Anthony Gordon provides an additional attacking option, but replacing Raphinha’s overall contribution would be harder than filling a positional gap. Barcelona’s priority remains securing a world‑class striker after Lewandowski’s departure. While Saudi interest appears genuine and the financial lure is large, the club will likely resist unless Raphinha changes his stance. A photo by Ira L.
