Barcelona negotiate extended loan for Patricio Pacifico
Barcelona have reopened talks with Defensor Sporting about the future of Patricio Pacifico. The Catalan club is looking to extend the Uruguayan defender’s loan with an eye on a permanent deal.
Pacifico, 20, arrived at Barcelona Atletic in the winter window on a loan that included a purchase option linked to ten appearances. He managed seven matches before a torn left anterior cruciate ligament halted his progress.
Barcelona had already leaned toward exercising the purchase clause regardless of the appearance threshold. Current negotiations centre on a further season-long loan, with a permanent transfer still possible even if the required matches are never reached.
After surgery, Pacifico spent an initial period with his leg immobilised before beginning rehabilitation at Barcelona’s training facilities. The next phase focuses on regaining mobility and strength under the supervision of the club’s fitness staff.
