Barcelona races to lock in squad as Flick demands decisive week

FC Barcelona is accelerating its transfer activity because head coach Hansi Flick wants a definitive squad before the 2026/27 season starts, and the players involved also wish to settle their futures promptly.

Near‑term deals

The Catalan club believes several operations can be wrapped up within days, while others will require more patience, creating a "Vai e vem" atmosphere in the market.

Negotiations are under way for midfielder Rodri and forward Ferran Torres, with both clubs expecting the deals to be finalised during the coming week.

In contrast, the Argentine striker Julián Álvarez remains a long‑term project, as Atlético Madrid is reluctant to facilitate his departure.

Barcelona also plans to announce the exits of Ronald Araújo and Jofre Torrents shortly; Araújo will head to Liverpool on loan and Torrents will move to Ajax.

There is strong optimism that Ferran Torres’ transfer to Paris Saint‑Germain can be completed next week, after the Spanish forward and the French club have already spoken.

Rodri’s move is estimated at about €60 million, with Barcelona hoping to seal the agreement before the end of the week, despite Manchester City’s expectation of a sizable fee.

Beyond these headline moves, the board is monitoring a possible return for João Cancelo, aiming to shape a squad that matches Hansi Flick’s tactical vision.
