Barcelona rejects Bernardo Silva's €20m salary demand
Barcelona refused to meet Bernardo Silva's €20 million per‑season salary demand, a €10 million agent commission and a €10 million signing bonus. The Portuguese midfielder therefore completed his move to Real Madrid.
Real Madrid had already pursued several of Barcelona’s summer targets, including Denzel Dumfries, Julian Alvarez and Marc Cucurella, before securing Silva.
Silva’s financial package was rejected by both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, leaving Real Madrid as the only club willing to meet the terms. The club’s willingness to pay the full amount sealed the transfer.
Barcelona’s existing midfield already features Pedri, Dani Olmo, Frenkie de Jong, Marc Bernal, Fermin Lopez and the returning Gavi, making Silva a non‑essential addition.
With the Silva saga resolved, Barcelona can now concentrate on strengthening the centre‑forward and central‑defence positions.
