Barcelona's Marc Casado Transfer to Monaco Ruled Out
Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado will not join Ligue 1 side AS Monaco this summer. Hansi Flick has excluded Casado from his plans amid midfield competition. The club is now seeking to accelerate his sale.
Fabrizio Romano indicated that no agreement or advanced negotiations exist between AS Monaco and Casado, effectively ruling out the move. Casado's future therefore remains open.
Barcelona are working with agent Jorge Mendes to secure a new destination before the current financial year ends. Offloading Casado, alongside the pending sale of Ansu Fati, is deemed essential to balance the books and satisfy Financial Fair Play requirements by July 1.
Atletico Madrid have declined interest, citing a fully stocked midfield and a desire to avoid mixing operations with any future Julian Alvarez negotiation. Al Hilal present a possible option given their financial strength, and Casado would not oppose a move that aids the club in a difficult period. Real Betis also admire his profile but would need to generate revenue and free salary space before committing.
