Barcelona target Cesc Fabregas as Flick successor
Cesc Fabregas has become Barcelona's primary target to replace Hansi Flick. Barcelona has sent an emissary to Como to negotiate a pre‑agreement for the coach after Flick's term ends.
Deco, Barcelona's sporting director, gives Fabregas his full backing. Alejandro Echevarría, right‑hand man to president Joan Laporta, travelled to Como with the specific task of securing Fabregas for the future role.
Hansi Flick is under contract until 2028 with an option to extend to 2029. The report also rules out Luis Enrique, citing his salary demands and his refusal to accept external interference, including from Echevarría.
Fabregas' rapid rise includes guiding Como from Serie B to the Champions League. The former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder is now being lined up for the prestigious job at the club where he began his playing career. Bojan Krkic and Deco were observed from the stands during a LaLiga EA Sports match at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on 19 May 2024.
