Barcelona urges RFEF, LaLiga, CTA to act on Pérez

FC Barcelona has formally asked the Royal Spanish Football Federation, LaLiga and the Technical Committee of Referees to take action against Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez after his remarks on May 12 and 13 referencing the Negreira case, which the club deems false and damaging to Spanish football’s reputation. FC Barcelona president Rafael Yuste and Abel sent a formal letter to LaLiga president Javier Tebas, RFEF president Rafael Louzán and CTA president Francisco Soto. The correspondence was dispatched today. The letter references Pérez’s statements made on May 12 and 13. Barcelona argues the remarks undermine the honour and image of the First Division league competition. The club also says they damage the reputation of the refereeing body. According to Barcelona, the comments erode the credibility of Spanish professional football. The club describes the statements as false. The club urges the competition organisers and referees to defend their institutions’ reputation, as Barcelona has recently done by filing a conciliation claim. It calls for an urgent response from the addressed bodies. Barcelona asks the RFEF, LaLiga and CTA to adopt, within their powers, appropriate institutional and legal measures against Mr. Pérez. The aim is to protect the honour, integrity and prestige of the institutions and competitions they manage.
