Bayern Munich watches Vuskovic closely – Transfer in sight
FC Bayern Munich is closely monitoring the 19‑year‑old Croatian centre‑back Luka Vuskovic from Brighton & Hove Albion and is considering a transfer at a later date, as the portal Bayern Insider reports from sporting director Christian Falk, and is examining whether a possible vacancy in the defence could clear the way.
Bayern, alongside other international top clubs, is focused on Vuskovic's development. The current situation in the Munich defence puts the 19‑year‑old Croatian on the team’s radar. However, a possible signing remains unlikely for now, as long as no defensive gap emerges.
Bayern's interest in Vuskovic
The centre‑back currently plays for Brighton & Hove Albion, where he is regularly used in the first team. Bayern sees him as a long‑term project that complements the profile of the young Croatian. The transfer would only be considered if a place becomes available.
Defence situation at Bayern
Currently, Min‑Jae Kim (29) and Hiroki Ito (27) occupy central positions in the Munich defence. Kim acts as an almost equal rotational player to the duo preferred by coach Vincent Kompany, Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah. Ito, on the other hand, has logged only ten minutes of action this season and is therefore sidelined. A departure in winter or at the latest next summer is considered likely.
Bayern must free ex-HSV jewel Vuskovic before the transfer goes through
Bayern had Vuskovic on its radar twice already. In February 2023, a transfer fee of three million euros was offered to him, but doubts about his style of play caused the deal to fall through. He then completed loan spells at Radomiak Radom in Poland and KVC Westerlo in the Netherlands. In 2025, he moved to Tottenham Hotspur for eleven million euros, before making his breakthrough during a loan to Hamburger SV. Finally, he transferred to Brighton for fifty million euros after being dealt again in Munich.
In an interview with the Croatian outlet Tportal, Vuskovic said in February: “Yes, I’ve heard about that.”
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl replied: “We cannot sign every good player that the public thinks must absolutely join FC Bayern.” He indirectly referred to the supervisory board led by honorary president Uli Hoeneß.
As long as Kim and Ito remain contracted until 2028, Vuskovic's possible transfer remains a future project. However, should either of them leave the club, a realistic door opens for the 19‑year‑old Croatian to Munich.
