Bayern's push to retain Kane grows as Barcelona circles

🇩🇪
Harry Kane is set to sign a fresh contract with Bayern Munich, the German champions who paid €95 million for the England striker in the summer of 2023. The Athletic the 30‑year‑old top scorer of the Bundesliga is leaning towards extending his stay despite interest from FC Barcelona. Since joining Bayern, Kane has netted 146 goals in 147 appearances, cementing his status as the league’s leading marksman. The club hopes a new deal will secure the 30‑year‑old until at least the mid‑2027 point of his current contract. His original agreement, signed in 2023, runs to mid‑2027. FC Barcelona have already opened talks with Kane’s representatives, but the striker has expressed a desire to remain in Germany. A move to La Liga is not ruled out, yet his immediate focus lies with the upcoming World Cup. At the World Cup, Kane has already scored three times in the group stage – twice against Croatia and once against Panama – helping England reach the knockout round. England will meet the Democratic Republic of Congo on 1 July at 18:00 CET. If Kane signs the extension, Bayern will retain their premier striker and likely maintain their attacking edge, while Barcelona may need to look elsewhere for a marquee forward. Should Kane wait until after the tournament, his options will be reassessed with both clubs aware of his market value. Kane also tops the Bundesliga scoring charts, reinforcing his value to Bayern’s attack. His consistency has made him a central figure in the German champion’s offensive plans.
