The BBC has compiled a fatigue ranking for the upcoming 48‑team World Cup that begins Thursday evening.
The list covers the ten highest‑ranked nations in the FIFA rankings.
The ranking totals minutes played by each national team’s players since 15 June 2025.
France, known as Les Bleus, tops the list with 98,895 minutes.
Maxence Lacroix recorded the most minutes for France, 5,009.
Portugal follows with 96,405 minutes, England with 94,403, Germany with 92,642, Brazil with 92,175, and Spain with 90,396.
Argentina appears seventh with 97,233 minutes, Belgium eighth with 84,924, the Netherlands ninth with 80,555, and Morocco tenth with 73,680.
The minutes correspond to 1,341 matches for France, 1,299 for Portugal, 1,304 for England, 1,254 for Germany, 1,193 for Brazil, 1,251 for Spain, 1,204 for Argentina, 1,165 for Belgium, 1,152 for the Netherlands, and 1,040 for Morocco.
The intense heat expected in the United States could make the accumulated fatigue a decisive factor.
