Belgium's Late Escape
Belgium escaped a shocking defeat against Senegal with a 3-2 win. Former Belgian international Wesley Sonck praised Youri Tielemans' cool penalty kick in the 120th minute.
The Rode Duivels were down 0-2 with five minutes left but scored through Tielemans and Romelu Lukaku. A penalty was awarded in the final minutes of .
Tielemans remained calm and scored the penalty, sending Belgium to the last 16. Sonck commended the referee's decision to award the penalty after a VAR review.
Sonck said, 'It is just very smart from Youri Tielemans and you can just give it to him. The referee had to look at it for a long time but from the spidercam you could see it pretty well.'
Sonck then took a jab at the Netherlands, saying Tielemans' penalty kick was an example to follow. 'But how he then kicks that penalty, so calm, really top. To all the Dutch, that's how you should do it, boys.'
The win marked a dramatic turnaround for Belgium, who will move on to the next round.
