Bernardo Silva signs two-year deal with Real Madrid
Bernardo Silva has signed a two-year contract with Real Madrid. The free transfer includes a deal until the summer of 2028. An optional extra year can be triggered by appearances in the second season.
The story involves Bernardo Silva, Jose Mourinho and journalist Ben Fernandes Santos. Silva, the former Manchester City captain, will join Real Madrid in the coming days. An official announcement may wait until after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Real Madrid have already secured Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries, making Silva the likely third major summer signing. Mourinho, returning to Real Madrid after 13 years, has prioritized Silva as a versatile playmaker. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid were also pursuing Silva before his decision.
Silva’s contract runs to summer 2028 with the appearance‑based option for a further year. Mourinho values Silva’s versatility, experience, leadership and winning mentality. The addition positions Real Madrid for the upcoming seasons.
