Bosz pushes for home win against Shakhtar after draw

Peter Bosz made it clear during the press conference at the Philips Stadium that he is dissatisfied with the 1-1 draw between PSV and Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League, and emphasized: “I think we must win at home against Shakhtar.”

Bosz demands a home win

Bosz stated that his team is normally supposed to beat the Ukrainians and that a home victory against Shakhtar is the minimum expectation. He found the result insufficient and indicated that better performance is required.

He praised the Ukrainians: “They performed well. In addition, they also simply have good players.” Bosz emphasized that it was not an ordinary opponent.

Bosz criticised PSV's possession and noted that some of the boys were nervous, especially because for a number of players this was their Champions League debut. He found the execution unconvincing.

He missed courage in Kodai Sano, who at times sent the ball back instead of dribbling forward. Bosz saw improvement in the second half, when the nervousness subsided.

Nevertheless, Bosz praised the defensive duo Lutsharel Geertruida and Armando Obispo, who he said had worked hard. He found the defensive organisation solid.

On the attacking side, Bosz indicated that too few chances were created and that he feared more openings that could lead to conceding goals. He called for more courage in attack.

Sergiño Dest was named man of the match and spoke about the balanced game: “Shakhtar was the better team before the break, we were after the break.” He praised the partnership with Geertruida and saw progress compared to earlier Champions League appearances.
