Bournemouth's loan blueprint could give them edge on Mbemba chase

Bournemouth have entered the race for Paris Saint‑Germain defender Emmanuel Mbemba, an 18‑year‑old left‑back who can also operate at centre‑back, after Arsenal’s interest, with the Cherries eyeing a free transfer and a loan to Lorient within the Black Knight ownership group.

The 18‑year‑old will be available on a free transfer once his PSG contract expires, with only a nominal training compensation fee due.

Bournemouth plan to send Mbemba on loan to Lorient, a club owned by the Black Knight multi‑club group, to continue his development before a possible Premier League return.

The loan arrangement will not interfere with Marco Rose’s first‑team plans for the upcoming summer.

The Cherries are also targeting a centre‑back, negotiating a contract renewal for midfielder Alex Scott, and may look to sign a striker if Enes Unal departs.

Arsenal have proposed a similar pathway, but cannot implement it within the same ownership structure, giving Bournemouth greater control over Mbemba’s playing time while on loan.

Arsenal’s proposal impressed, with Mikel Arteta highlighting the club’s stable leadership and its record of developing players such as William Saliba during a loan spell at Marseille.

Mbemba is a France youth international and recently captained PSG’s under‑19 side to French Youth Cup success at the Stade de France.
