Brian Tinnion to Leave Bristol City Technical Director Role

Brian Tinnion will step down as technical director of Bristol City this summer. He will remain with the club as a senior European scout on a consultancy basis. Tinnion made more than 450 English Football League appearances for the Robins between 1993 and 2005, bringing his total league and cup tally to over 550. He is fourth on Bristol City's all‑time appearance list and won the 2003 EFL Trophy with the club. His playing career also included spells at Newcastle United, Bradford and Aldershot Town, the latter ending his professional appearances in the 2005‑06 season. Beyond his playing days, Tinnion served as Bristol City manager and academy director, overseeing the development of players such as Antoine Semenyo and Alex Scott. As technical director he helped the club reach the Championship play‑offs for the first time in 17 years. He began as a left‑back before moving into midfield for the majority of his matches. Chief executive officer Charlie Boss said Tinnion’s contributions as player and senior leader have been extraordinary and that the new role will allow him to spend more time with family while still shaping the club’s future. Boss added that Tinnion will continue identifying the next generation of potential stars.
