Bristol City seal Sam Greenwood signing from Poland
Bristol City have secured the signing of 24‑year‑old midfielder Sam Greenwood from Polish side Pogon Szczecin on a four‑year contract, with the fee undisclosed. The move makes Greenwood the Robins' first acquisition of the summer and adds depth to their midfield options.
Greenwood joined Pogon Szczecin in August and featured in 22 league matches, netting three goals. His experience in the Polish top flight complements the versatility praised by his new manager.
The Englishman began his career in Arsenal's academy before moving to Leeds United in 2020. At Leeds he amassed 35 appearances, including 18 in the 2022‑23 Premier League season.
Greenwood also spent time on loan at Middlesbrough and Preston North End, gaining further Championship experience. These spells contributed to his tally of nearly 250‑300 senior games.
Robins head coach Michael Skubala described Greenwood as a "really exciting talent" who can operate as a six, eight, ten or on either flank. Skubala told BBC Radio Bristol that the 24‑year‑old is hungry to prove he can return to Premier League level.
Goalkeeper Tickle joins Bristol City from Wigan, while McCrorie returns to Rangers from the Robins. Both moves were announced alongside Greenwood's transfer, signalling an active summer window for the club.
