Bukayo Saka Scores as Arsenal Reach Champions League Final
Bukayo Saka (23) netted the only goal in the second leg as Arsenal defeated Atletico Madrid 1-0 at the Emirates, winning the tie 2-1 on aggregate. The strike came in first‑half stoppage time, a rebound finish after Jan Oblak saved a Leandro Trossard effort.
Viktor Gyökeres converted a penalty for Arsenal in the first leg at the Metropolitano, while Julián Álvarez equalised for Atletico Madrid from the spot. The 1-1 draw set up a tightly contested semi‑final.
Mikel Arteta’s side kept a disciplined defensive shape, limiting Atletico Madrid to long‑range attempts after taking the lead. Reports of fireworks outside the visitors’ hotel the night before were noted, though Diego Simeone made no comment.
Arsenal will face either Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain in the final at Budapest’s Puskás Aréna on 30 May. The victory marks Arsenal’s first Champions League final appearance since 2006.
