Cagliari extend Fabio Pisacane contract to 2028

Cagliari announced that head coach Fabio Pisacane has signed a new contract extending his stay until the summer of 2028, with an option to add a further year. The club confirmed the agreement in a statement released on Thursday. The deal comprises an initial two‑year extension to 2028 and a clause that could prolong the contract by an additional twelve months. Cagliari described the renewal as a “choice in the name of continuity”. Pisacane, a former Cagliari defender, made 151 league appearances for the club toward the end of his playing career. He entered the club’s youth set‑up as a coach in 2022 and led the Primavera squad in the 2022‑23 season. He was appointed head coach of Cagliari’s first‑team for the 2025‑26 campaign and guided the side to a 14th‑place finish. The club highlighted that the 14th‑place finish yielded 43 points, the third‑best Serie A result since 2014. It also noted safety secured with time to spare, victories against several of the league’s biggest clubs, and the development of numerous young players. The statement concluded with congratulations to “Mister” Pisacane and a forward‑looking message. A match‑day photograph of Fabio Pisacane taken by Alessandro Sabattini was used in the announcement. The image captured Pisacane on the sidelines during the Serie A match against Bologna FC 1909 at Renato Dall’Ara Stadium on 3 May 2026, captioned as head coach of Cagliari Calcio.
