Chelsea chase Bournemouth star Eli Junior Kroupi as contract looms

🇬🇧

Chelsea are in talks to sign 20‑year‑old forward Eli Junior Kroupi, who recorded 35 appearances and 13 goals for the Blues last season, while his contract with AFC Bournemouth runs until the summer of 2030, potentially inflating the price. The contrast pits a club eager to add depth with a player whose long‑term commitment could force a premium fee.

Simon Phillips reported on Substack that Chelsea have set their sights on Kroupi in the current transfer window. The pursuit aligns with head coach Xabi Alonso’s plan to reinforce his attacking options.

Kroupi delivered a string of impressive displays in the final third during his time with the West London club. Observers rank him among the Premier League’s most promising forwards.

His contract, which does not expire until 2030, suggests a substantial release clause may be required. Consequently, Chelsea could face a steep price to secure his services before the window closes.

The French forward combines pace to get behind defenses with strong dribbling ability. He also possesses long‑range power shooting and the vision to create chances for teammates.

Primarily a centre‑forward, Kroupi can also operate as a left‑winger when instructed by his manager. His existing Premier League experience should enable a swift adaptation to life at Stamford Bridge.

Eddie Keogh captured Kroupi celebrating his first goal of a Premier League match against Manchester City on 19 May 2026 at the Vitality Stadium. With those attributes, he could add quality and depth to Xabi Alonso’s frontline, prompting the coach to act before the transfer deadline.
