Chelsea eye £80m move for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton
Chelsea are reported to be interested in Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, instant‑impact player this summer and have set a £80 million price tag for the 22‑year‑old English international.
Wharton is an England international who has been described as one of the finest midfielders in the Premier League. His ability to pick decisive and progressive passes is highlighted as a key attribute.
Wharton played a huge role in Palace’s recent success. He helped the club win the FA Cup and the UEFA Conference League.
The midfielder is open to leaving the Eagles, two years after joining from Blackburn Rovers. South London outfit Chelsea are asking £80 million for the Blackburn‑born player.
Real Madrid target Alexis Mac Allister as Liverpool eye Camavinga
Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked with Wharton. Those clubs are currently focused on other targets, potentially giving Chelsea an advantage. Chelsea are unlikely to move for the 22‑year‑old until vice‑captain Enzo Fernandez’s future is resolved. Fernandez has signalled his intention to leave, with Real Madrid interested and Chelsea demanding at least £120 million. Proceeds from Fernandez’s sale could be used to fund a Wharton signing or similar targets. Manager Xabi Alonso believes his squad is already strong, but adding a player like Wharton would further reinforce it. Chelsea are also keen on Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, although he is prioritising a move to Arsenal. The club is also looking to strengthen at left‑back after Marc Cucurella’s move to Real Madrid, while a goalkeeper, centre‑back and left‑winger are also being considered.
