Club Brugge eyes Sommer, Ryan As Mignolet successors

Club Brugge have identified two goalkeepers – 37‑year‑old Yann Sommer of Internazionale and 34‑year‑old Mathew Ryan of Levante – as potential successors to Simon Mignolet, with talks already underway as the Belgian side prepares for the summer transfer window. Both players are nearing the end of their current contracts, with Sommer set to become a free agent in July.

Mathew Ryan spent the 2013‑2015 seasons at Club Brugge before forcing a move to Valencia CF. He later passed through RC Genk, Brighton & Hove Albion, Arsenal, Real Sociedad and FC Copenhagen before joining AZ, where he played for one and a half years.

Ryan, now 34, currently plays for Levante and his contract expires at the end of June. He is also representing Australia at the World Cup, but he is not the first‑choice goalkeeper for the Socceroos.

The 37‑year‑old Swiss Yann Sommer will leave Internazionale this summer and is available on a free transfer. While Ajax have shown interest in signing the experienced keeper, Belgian reports indicate that he is already in discussions with Club Brugge.

Simon Mignolet currently guards the net for Club Brugge, creating a vacancy the club aims to fill. The search includes both Sommer and Ryan as well as Nottingham Forest's Matz Sels, who is also being linked to the role.
