Coventry host Hull in crucial CBS Arena opener
Coventry will kick off their 2026‑27 Premier League campaign at Arsenal, marking their first top‑flight appearance in 25 years as the Championship title winners meet the Premier League champions. The Sky Blues then host Hull at the CBS Arena for their inaugural home game, a match deemed vital for both sides.
The Tigers, Hull’s nickname, secured promotion as play‑off winners, while the Sky Blues are among the favourites to bounce back to the Championship instantly. Both clubs view the CBS Arena clash as a decisive early test.
The opening fixture of the previous season between the two ended in a goalless 0‑0 draw at the CBS Arena. That result offered no hint of the challenges ahead.
Ipswich Town travel to Coventry on 2 December, adding another promoted side to the Sky Blues’ schedule. A return visit to Portman Road follows roughly a month later.
Aston Villa will arrive on 12 December, reviving a rivalry that saw Villa send Coventry down in 2001. The fixture promises heightened emotions for the supporters.
Coventry also face a trip to Manchester City on 5 September, confronting the Premier League champions away from home. The early-season encounter underscores the demanding nature of their schedule.
Frank Lampard’s side, described as fearless and free‑scoring title winners last term, aim to translate that confidence into the new campaign. Their attacking mindset will be crucial in the opening matches.
