Cristiano Ronaldo ignored by Portugal teammates in 1-1 draw with Congo
Portugal’s World Cup preparations faced fresh turmoil after Cristiano Ronaldo was allegedly ignored by teammates during their 1-1 draw with Congo. The 41-year-old forward appeared isolated throughout the match, with no passes or acknowledgment from squad colleagues.
Head coach Roberto Martínez confirmed post-match that Ronaldo had played despite the tension, stating: “Cristiano was on the pitch and contributed as he always does.” Martínez declined to comment on the alleged snubbing.
Portuguese media reported that Ronaldo’s relationship with several first-team players had deteriorated during the tournament. A senior squad member, speaking anonymously, said: “This is not normal. We have never seen anything like this before.”
