Feyenoord sign Charles Vanhoutte for €6m
Feyenoord have completed the signing of 27‑year‑old Belgian midfielder Charles Vanhoutte from OGC Nice for a reported €6 million, making him the club’s first summer acquisition for the 2024‑25 season. The transfer was confirmed via official club channels today, and Vanhoutte signs a four‑year deal lasting until mid‑2030.
Feyenoord’s €6 million outlay matches the amount OGC Nice paid a year earlier to secure Vanhoutte from Union Sint‑Gillis. The Belgian midfielder therefore leaves Ligue 1 after a single season to join the Eredivisie side in Rotterdam.
Vanhoutte began his professional career at Cercle Brugge before moving to Tubize and later Union Sint‑Gillis. He then transferred to Nice, where he helped the club narrowly avoid relegation in the previous campaign.
Internationally, Vanhoutte has earned one cap for Belgium. He has been called up on a few additional occasions but has not added further playing time.
In Rotterdam, Vanhoutte will wear the number six shirt, a role previously held by Robin van Persie before his dismissal. He joins a midfield overseen by returning manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
To create room for the control‑oriented midfielder, Feyenoord is reportedly willing to let Hwang In‑beom and Jakub Moder depart this summer. The club expects both players could be sold during the current transfer window.
